AMD Radeon RX 7700 XT 12GB Graphics Card Review Featuring XFX QICK 319

How Much Does it Cost?

Now this is the big one, as the RX 7700 XT is coming in at $449, which puts it in a really awkward price category that’s more expensive than some, but cheaper than others, and with not much between it and the RX 7800 XT, I fear it’s going to be a bit of a hard sell, especially as the 7800 XT is the better card in terms of performance, for only $50 more.

Now one beauty is that the XFX card we looked at today is going to hit that $449 price tag, and I feel that you do get a lot of card, which is more than capable of keeping things under control in the temperature and cooling department, while also looking stylish.

Overview

For me, I’m torn. I really like the 7700 XT, because it does give a good uplift from the previous generation, and also sits at a price segment that really doesn’t have any competition, but then AMD have come along and beaten it down a little with its bigger brother; the 7800 XT and I get it, because if the 7800 XT was more expensive, it wouldn’t make any sense, but with $50 separating the two, it’s a tough one.

I guess, you could say that if your budget is $450 and not a penny more, then it’s the wisest and smartest choice, but if you can stretch a little further, then the 7800 XT is a no-brainer.

In comparison to NVIDIA, it has really shown how out of touch team green is with the audience and general consumer base, and even with the price drops on the RX 6700 and 6700 XT, this newer card still comes in pretty damn favourable. Sure, the older cards offer superior bang for buck in terms of cost per frame, but a newer product will always be that little bit higher because you have to pay the early adopter tax, but it’s not that much more, and with frame generation on the horizon, I feel that the 7700 XT is only going to get even better as time goes on and it’s allowed some time to mature, much like most AMD products have done historically.

Should I Buy One?

So the big question. Should you buy one? Yes, but also no. As I mentioned, if you’re on a strict budget, then it’s a bit of a no-brainer, and compared to the competition, it’s a clear winner, as there really isn’t any competition, other than themselves. The 4060 Ti is subpar in comparison, even if cheaper, and the RTX 4070 is too expensive in comparison, but if you have the extra cash, and we’re only talking about a coffee a day for the best part of two weeks, then skip this and just get the 7800 XT instead, even if that is fantastically average.
