AMD Radeon RX 7900 XT & 7900 XTX Unboxing

A Closer Look – Radeon RX 7900 XT

The Radeon RX 7900 XT is a gorgeous-looking graphics card, and as I hinted earlier, it’s drastically more compact than the frankly huge Nvidia RTX 4080 and RTX 4090 series cards. The card measures in at just 275mm long and it’s a 2.5-slot design, so right out of the box, compatibility is going to be pretty excellent with virtually any mid-tower PC case.

The card uses a triple fan and while the two cards use similar fan designs they are different sizes. The RX 7900 XT uses a smaller 80mm fan design. They all have an axial design, which features a circular ring joining the fan blades, which will further push air down into the heatsink.

The backplate is robust, and unlike many of the Nvidia cards these days, it doesn’t have a fan blowing through it or any ventilation. It’s a solid panel, and that makes the card feel pretty heavy and overall, very robust. There’s a tiny icon on there with a heat symbol, so I expect it will get hot, thus doing its job.

Along the side, you can see there’s completely unimpeded airflow, with a huge amount of radiator exposed. But while this will provide better heat dissipation, it mostly just looks freaking awesome.

Forget those fancy new connectors, AMD will likely switch to them eventually but for now I’m sure many are glad to see you won’t need a new PSU or any of those clunky adaptors to get the job done.

On the back, there’s a pair of DisplayPort 2.1, an HDMI 2.1 port, and a Type-C Port.
