AMD Radeon RX 7900 XT & 7900 XTX Unboxing

A Closer Look – Radeon RX 7900 XTX

The XTX is the more potent of the two cards, but even then, its design isn’t that much bigger than the RX 7900 XT. It’s 287mm long vs the 276mm of the XT. Furthermore, it retains the 2.5 slot design, ensuring that even if you do go for this more powerful model, compatibility with your PC case is exceptionally high.

The fans use the same design as the XT with an axial design with 9 blades. However, they are slightly larger at 84mm vs 80mm, so they’ll move more air at lower RPM and offer more cooling performance overall.

Around the back, I’m happy to report the same backplate design. It’s only one reason this card is so heavy, but honestly, a big thick metal backplate and a truly robust radiator fill me with confidence this card will keep on top of its cooling requirements.

Again a fully exposed side section, showing you that one-piece full-length radiator design. The little red line on the side is a cool little style touch too.

Both the XT and the XTX use the same 8+8pin PSU connectors so again, compatibility is very high with current-gen power supplies.

Both the cards do have some wires on show, but they’re in a small recess on the PCI-E slot side, so will be hidden out of sight once installed. Of course, these are for the fans and any sensors, so it’s all important stuff here.

Again, this card has the same DisplayPort 2.1 x 2, HDMI 2.1 x 1 and a USB C display connections.
