News has come in from Swedish hardware site Nordichardware who have claimed to have seen the retailer price list for the AMD RX Vega. Of course, this is all just a rumour right now and we are yet to confirm the truth behind it. The current pricing is detailed to be around 7,000 SEK excluding VAT, which equates to roughly $850 when transferred into US currency.
Taking into consideration that this is purely rumour and unconfirmed, it would seem that $850 is actually much higher than many were anticipating. However, we also have very little information about exactly which RX Vega model they are focusing on. To price the card at a very similar rate to the GTX 1080 could prove a devestating blow for those that were anticipating much lower pricing. Of course the price is still subject to change and we would hope for a lower price point. Take into consideration the card performance benchmarks we have seen that place it between the 1070 and 1080, asking such a price could prove damaging to the sales popularity.
We believe that the cards, once officialy released will retail for a lower price point. Considering that AMD heavily depend on competitive pricing as a main Selling Point, it is likely that the price could drop. Alternatively, we could also find that this pricing is for the watercooled top of the line variant. In which case the pricing would seem relatively reasonable. We will keep you informed as time goes by as to the official pricing of the cards. Would you buy an AMD RX Vega for around the $850 mark?
