With a slew of recent major title launches, it’s no surprise that AMD has released yet another driver. As the second Radeon Software driver release of the month, 16.10.2 is another beta hotfix release. The major game support additions are Battlefield 1, Sid Meier’s Civilization VI, Titanfall 2, Serious Sam VR Early Access, as well as Eagle Flight VR. Civilization VI also gets a Crossfire profile for DX11.
In terms of fixes, there aren’t too many as I suppose the focus has been on adding game support. RX 400 get a fan speed fix, DX12 gets better compatibility with older CPUs and Gears of Wars 4 gets a bug fix. Given AMD’s prompt and timely driver release over about the past year, I expect we’ll be getting a release early next month. If AMD keeps to their unofficial cadence, we will be seeing a WHQL release next month as well.
For known problems, there two troubling ones for H.264 playback with browsers or certain streaming programs. Similar issues have popped up in the past so hopefully, AMD will be able to nail down the root cause soon. You can find the full release notes as well as links to all of the various installers here.
