AMD Radeon Software 16.6.2 Released

With just only a day to go until the next month, AMD has released their second driver for June. Following on 16.6.1 earlier in the month, we’re now getting the new 16.6.2 driver along with the RX 480 release. In addition to supporting the new card, AMD has added a number of features and fixes to their drivers and software suite as well.
First off, we’re getting the new Radeon WattMan overclocking utility. Compared to OverDrive, it offers a lot more functionality and is that much more useful. Unfortunately, only RX 400 series graphics cards are compatible for now. Hopefully, this is just due to delays and a fundamental change with the hardware. We’re also getting HDMI display scaling, Crossfire toggle button, Desktop Color and Display Color Temperature controls as well.
In terms of fixes, we’re mostly getting a host of Crossfire fixes for now.Given AMD’s value proposition for 2 RX 480 in Crossfire beating out the GTX 1080, it makes sense that more focus will be given here. World of Tanks also gets a Crossfire profile added as well. There are still a large number of known issues at this time so lets hope AMD gets cracking on those. Given past releases, I expect we’ll have a new release in early July so stay tuned for that!
