With all the new game releases, graphics drivers have been coming out rapid fire. Keeping pace with everything, AMD has been pumping graphics drivers every couple of weeks. Last month, we got a total of 3 new drivers. Starting off November, we now have a new Radeon Software Adrenalin Edition driver. The new release is the 18.11.1 beta, optional drivers. As expected the main feature is game support.
The two new titles that are getting support are Fallout 76 and Hitman 2. For Hitman 2, AMD is claiming a modest 3% performance uplift running the RX 580 at 1080p. Another new support feature is for Battlefield V Early Access. As expected of the close cooperation with EA, the numbers are pretty good. RX Vega 64 is 8% faster while the RX 580 is a whopping 9% faster. This is all at 1080p as it looks like AMD is standardizing on that resolution.
Furthermore, AMD has a number of nice bug fixes as well. Radeon Overlay will now be more stable when pairing with the new Windows 10 October Update. Assassins Creed Origins is also getting a patch to work better with Windows 7. Finally, Wolfenstein II and Strange Bridge are both getting fixes as well. In terms of known issues, Battlefield V is not playing nice with Radeon Overlay when you have multiple displays. It looks like multiple displays are the bane of AMD as mouse lag is also an issue if you have one of the displays connected but off.
Finally, a recurring issue that is yet to be fixed is RX Vega GPUs having a high memory clock during idle. Hopefully, this can be fixed relatively soon. Given the busy holiday season, we can expect more drivers to come out towards the end of the year. AMD is also likely to do their annual driver and brand refresh. Last year, the main feature was Radeon Overlay and the year before ReLive. It will be interesting to see the company will release in December.
