AMD has been hitting it out of the park with their latest drivers. Following up on several February releases already, the company is releasing yet another driver release. AMD is releasing a new beta optional driver for the end of the month, Radeon Software Adrenalin 18.2.3 Beta. This latest release follows the 18.2.1 and 18.2.2 driver releases. We also had a WHQL release as well earlier in the month.
The new drivers are targetted at Final Fantasy XII The Zodiac Age, Sea of Thieves, and Brass Tactics. Compared to 18.2.2 Sea of Thieves is 29% and 39% faster on the RX Vega 64 and RX 580 respectively. For Final Fantasy XII The Zodiac Age, the game is 13% and 20% faster on the same metric while no numbers are listed for Brass Tactics. AMD tested the RX Vega 64 on 2160p and the RX 580 on 1080p.
AMD has also been busy with fixing issues. There are a whole bunch of fixes that did not make it into 18.2.1 WHQL. FreeSync gets fixes for multi-display systems and Chrome video playback. Fortnite, For Honor, and Middle-Earth Shadow of War also get bug fixes as well. Finally, Enhanced Sync, ReLive and Radeon Overlay get fixes for some long-standing issues. Its good to see AMD finally getting to some of old bugs at last.
For the known issues list, it has shrunk a lot due to the numerous bug fixes. There have been some new ones popping up as well though. World of Final Fantasy is missing some water textures while Destiny 2 may hang on GCN 1.0 cards. Finally, FFmpeg may have corrupted output when playing back H264 video. Hopefully, fixes for these problems will come soon. You can find the full release notes and download links here.
