AMD Radeon Vega Frontier Edition Spotted In Benchmarks

During their Financial Analyst Day last month, AMD revealed some new products. One of the highlights is the new Radeon Vega Frontier Edition. With this new card, AMD is targeting professionals in the AI, Compute and Machine Learning segments. Despite being more of a professional card, the Frontier Edition does have some gaming chops. Despite not being publicly available, the card is listed in a new CompuBench benchmark.

At the Financial Analyst Day event, AMD revealed some key details for the card. Featuring full Vega, the GPU offers up 64 Next-Gen Compute Units with 4,096 shaders, pushing about 13/26 TFLOPs of Single/Double precision performance. Backed by 16 GB of HBM2, it would be AMD’s most powerful single GPU to date.

Given those performance numbers, the GPU would have to be clocked at least at 1.59 GHz. From the new benchmark listing, we have confirmation of a 1.6 GHz core clock. We also have confirmation that the GPU features 4,096 shaders as expected. For more details, we will probably have to wait until closer to launch. Luckily for us, with leaks already popping up, AMD is probably in the final stages of Frontier Edition development. Hopefully, we will see the cards shortly and they may even beat Vega 10 to market.
