AMD Might Be Readying Overclocking Tool for Ryzen

As with all leaks, it’s always important to take everything with a grain of salt. With the myriad and often times conflicting information we’ve been getting, this is especially true for AMD’s Ryzen launch. Just about 2 weeks before launch, we now have new information that points to the software side of the new processors. What appears to be a screenshot of a new overclocking tool has now surfaced.

From the screenshot, we can make out what appears to be an overclocking tool for Ryzen processors. The design and layout of the software seems in line with the new UI that AMD introduced with Radeon Settings. While AMD has relied on motherboard vendors to provide the overclocking tools, it looks like AMD wants to standardize everything with Ryzen. This is not unlike the move that happened with Radeon WattMan.

In addition to standardization, there are also other obvious reasons AMD might be pushing a new tool. Ryzen features the new XFR which allows for higher clocks when there is sufficient cooling. Of course, XFR would need to be controllable in some way to get the desired fan speed/clock speed balance. There is also the fact that AMD is selling Ryzen as an enthusiast’s CPU and there is no better way to prove that with new ways to tweak the chips.
