Radeon HD 6870
Now taking a look at the 6870 we can see LOTS of risembalences between the 6850 and 6870 with regards to size, style and design.
We can see that in comparison, it does seem that the PCB on the 6870 will be SLIGHTLY larger, but does this mean that we will have increased features too, or just a slight performance increase when comparing the two cards?
The connectors are exactly the same, with the two DVI’s, two mini-DisplayPort and single HDMI connections.
Style wise, it seems to follow the same suit as the 6850, but obviously these are only reference cards and vendors will brand them and modify them to their liking.
A single CrossFire connector is also featured on this card, but this time we are given a bit more information with regards to the GPU and power usage as the 6870 requires TWO six pin PCI-Express connectors, as opposed to the single connector on the 6850.
Overall, it’s very hard to diferentiate between the two cards, barring the slightly bigger size and different power connectors. Otherwise even the most avid enthusiast may be baffled.
Sadly, we can’t release any information with regards to concrete figures and benchmarks yet due to a NDA that we signed, but as the week develops, be sure to check back where we will have more and more information on these cards.
It’s going to be a very exciting week for AMD, and with something even bigger on the horizon for November, we’re really excited too.
