AMD Reportedly Cancels Entry-Level RDNA 3 GPUs to Focus on Next-Generation RDNA 4

AMD Reportedly Cancels Entry-Level RDNA 3 GPUs to Focus on Next-Generation RDNA 4

AMD has reportedly abandoned its plans to release the entry-level RDNA 3 GPUs, namely the Radeon RX 7400 and RX 7300, in favor of concentrating on the development of next-generation RDNA 4 graphics cards. According to sources, none of AMD’s Add-In Board (AIB) partners are currently working on these RDNA 3 GPUs, which were originally targeted for the budget market.

AMD Shifts Focus to RDNA 4

The Radeon RX 7400 and RX 7300 were expected to be priced under $200, with 6GB and 4GB memory configurations, respectively. However, the company has now shifted its focus to RDNA 4, which is expected to bring significant improvements over the current generation. This move signals AMD’s commitment to advancing its technology rather than investing in older architectures.

A report from Benchlife revealed that AMD and its partners are prioritizing the RDNA 4 architecture, which is anticipated to power the Radeon RX 8000 series, expected to launch by Q1 2025. The Navi 48 and Navi 44 GPUs, the main chips for RDNA 4, are designed to compete with NVIDIA’s offerings and are rumored to be priced competitively.

The decision to cancel the RDNA 3 entry-level GPUs reflects AMD’s strategy to focus on the future of gaming technology, ensuring that its products remain competitive in an increasingly demanding market.
