AMD Reportedly Working on Radeon RX 9070 GRE
AMD is reportedly working on a brand-new RDNA 4 graphics card based on the Navi 48 architecture, called the Radeon RX 9070 GRE. This information comes from a leak by ITHome (thanks VideoCardz), which gathered data from chat logs with retailers and their sources. According to these reports, the Radeon RX 9070 GRE will be priced attractively, offering a better performance-to-cost ratio for gaming compared to the regular Radeon RX 9070.
Pricing and Market Availability
The Radeon RX 9070 GRE is expected to be priced between $449 and $499, making it a more affordable option for gamers compared to the standard Radeon RX 9070, which will likely attract those looking for a solid gaming GPU on a budget.
Historically, AMD’s GRE series, also known as the Great Radeon Edition, has been mainly available in Asian markets (especially China). However, previous models like the RX 6750 GRE and RX 7900 GRE were made available globally, and it seems that the RX 9070 GRE will follow the same path.
Specifications of the Radeon RX 9070 GRE
In terms of specifications, the Radeon RX 9070 GRE will feature a smaller Navi 48 core compared to the more expensive models. It will have a 192-bit memory bus and 12 GB of VRAM, which places it in direct competition with NVIDIA’s RTX 5070. The combination of these features suggests that the RX 9070 GRE will deliver good gaming performance without breaking the bank.
As of now, AMD has already released two RDNA 4-based graphics cards, the Radeon RX 9070 XT and the Radeon RX 9070, both of which come with the Navi 48 GPU core and 16 GB of VRAM. According to AMD, the Radeon RX 9070 has been a significant success, with over 200,000 units sold in just a few weeks.
The Radeon RX 9070 GRE seems to be aimed at filling a gap in the mid-range gaming market, offering solid performance at a lower price point. Will it be the right fit for your next gaming setup? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
