AMD to Reveal X370 Motherboards During New Horizon Event

AMD has officially announced they’re going to discuss Zen during a press event, entitled New Horizon on December 13th. This exciting event will be hosted by gaming industry veteran Geoff Keighley and introduce a number of special guests throughout the day. According to AMD, Zen is on track for a Q1 2017 release and the early leaked benchmarks look very promising. Of course, it will be great to hear more directly from AMD and I’d expect demos of the latest games to be run on AMD hardware. Apparently, the company plans to showcase new motherboards sporting the X370 chipset and AM4 socket. While the details remain fairly slim, I wouldn’t be too surprised if major partners discussed the benefits of AMD’s new platform.
The AM4 ecosystem consists of three chipsets designed for different usage scenarios. The budget-friendly A320 chipset is akin to Intel’s H110 offering while the B350 chipset should compete against the B150 or H170 products. On another note, the flagship X370 chipset is made for enthusiasts and supports native M.2 connectivity, PCI-E Gen 3, DDR4 memory, USB 3.1 Gen2, NVMe, SATA Express and accommodates multi-GPU configurations rather well. Personally, I cannot wait to see the new motherboard designs and information regarding performance compared to Kaby Lake or Skylake.
