It looks like AMD will be powering Nintendo’s next generation console, according to the latest rumours. AMD has hardware in all three consoles, the Nintendo Wii U, Sony PlayStation 4 and Microsoft Xbox One.

The new rumours suggest that Nintendo will be making some big changes in how it deals with the console industry, where it wants to make a system that is a hardcore gaming machine, but retain what makes Nintendo systems “fun.” This means we could see more NES, and not-so-much Wii. This means Nintendo will most likely tap AMD for a serious chip for its next-gen console, where we could expect a full-blown GPU versus the SoC that we have found in all three consoles.

Exciting times for Nintendo fans!
