Over the next month or so, both Nvidia and AMD will be launching a number of highly anticipated graphics cards. While Nvidia is focusing on the high-end with the new Pascal Titan X, AMD is going the other way with their RX 460 and RX 470 Polaris GPUs. According to the latest leak, it appears the new Polaris graphics cards are launching really soon. The RX 470 is reportedly set to arrive on August 4th while the RX 460 will follow its older sibling shortly.
This leak fits what we’ve learned so far from the hints AMD has given out so far. The only major change was that the RX 460 launch date which was earlier reported to arrive before the RX 470 has now been pushed later. This makes a bit of sense as most releases generally start with the more powerful cards to build up excitement with the budget card riding on the wave.
Based on current information, the RX 470 will arrive with 2048 GCN 4.0 shaders, 4GB(8GB custom) of VRAM and at a price of $179. The RX 460 will cost only $99 and come with 896 GCN 4.0 shaders and 2GB of VRAM for the reference model. Hopefully, these prices will be confirmed as they are quite competitive.
