AMD RX 500 Series Gets Driver and GPU-Z Support

Over the last couple of months, we’ve seen hints for a GPU refresh from AMD. Preliminarily dubbed the RX 500 series, we’ve seen some card pop up in various benchmarks online. So far, the expectation is that the card will arrive close to the Vega launch later this year. Today, it seems like AMD is starting to ramp up and get ready for the RX 500 launch with some updates to software.

In both GPU-Z and AMD’s own Radeon Software drivers, the RX 500 support has been added. This is pretty much clear confirmation that RX 500 exists and will arrive soon. In the latest GPU-Z 1.18.0, AMD Radeon RX 580, RX 570, RX 560, RX 550 have been added. For AMD’s own 17.3.2 drivers, we have the RX 590, RX 570 and RX 560. Interestingly, the RX 550 is not named, suggesting that it may come later or in the next driver release.

From 17.3.2, we also have some clear indications about the nature of the 3 cards. As expected, the RX 580 and RX 570 are 67DF meaning they will use Polaris 10. This means they are rebrands of the RX 480 and RX 470 with higher clocks. RX 560 uses 67FF which is Polaris 11 and may be more interesting if it uses full Polaris 11 unlike the RX 460. Last of all, the RX 550 is not mentioned so perhaps it will requires more work on the driver, maybe due to using Polaris 12.
