7-Zip is a free and open-source file archiver, a utility used to place groups of files within compressed containers known as “archives”. It is developed by Igor Pavlov and was first released in 1999. 7-Zip has its own archive format called 7z, but can read and write several others.
Available now on 7-Zip.
Taking a look at compression and in the 7-Zip benchmark we again see some pretty strong results compared to the 12600K and its previous generation part, the 5600X. In fact, the compression result here is only just behind the 5800X3D and we find very similar results in the decompression tests too, only being beaten by much higher SKU parts.
