AMD Ryzen 7 1800X Benchmarked in CPU Mark

The AMD Ryzen 7 1800X processor has now been added to Passmark’s CPU Mark database, and WCCFTech’s Khalid Moammer have used it to test the CPU’s performance against its biggest Intel rivals, plus one of AMD’s previous-generation high-end processors. In tests against the Intel Core i7 6900K, Core i7 5960X, Core i7 6800K, Core i7 7700K, and AMD FX 8350, the Ryzen 7 1800X – plugged into an MSI X370 XPower Gaming Titanium motherboard – performed very impressively, especially in the multi-thread and overall CPU Mark benchmarks.

“The big clock speed advantage of the Kaby Lake i7 7700K secures it the top spot with 2343 points,” Moammer writes, regarding the processor’s single core performance. “The 1800X comes in second place with 2129 points which just puts it ahead of the i7 6900K. The i7 6800K and 5960X are locked in a did head at fourth and fifth place. Tailing every other chip is AMD’s five year old Piledriver FX 8350 chip. This test really brings out the age of AMD’s last generation of enthusiast desktop chips and underscores the significant leap forward that Ryzen represents for the company.”

“Single-threaded performance is often cited as a key indicator of gaming performance,” he adds. “Ryzen’s great showing here should put to bed any fears of it not stacking up to its Intel counterparts.”

Compared to the Intel i7 5960X, which is twice the price, the AMD Ryzen 7 1800X performed remarkably. Compared to the previous generation FX 8350, the 1800X shows an incredible 80% performance boost.

AMD’s Ryzen 7 CPU line-up is set for release on 2nd March.
