Within hours of launch, AMD’s Ryzen processors have already shot to the top of the list. According to both Amazon and Amazon UK, the Ryzen 7 processors are among the hottest ones on the market. In both instances, the R7 1800X, R7 1700X and R7 1700 occupy 3 of the top 4 spots. In fact, one of them has even sold out!
On Amazon, the R7 1700X quickly took the lead, surging ahead of all Intel processors. The R7 1800X competed with the i7 7700K for second place before falling to third later in the day. It’s important to note that the R7 1800X has only fallen behind since it is now sold out! The R7 1700 managed to eke in fourth ahead of the 6700K. AMD managed the sweep the podium in the UK, securing the top three stops unequivocally.
At $499 for the R7 1800X, $399 for the R7 1700X and $329 for the R7 1700, AMD is offering unprecedented value for octa core processors. The crazy thing about this is that these are still pre-orders right now and no third party benchmarks have yet been released. If AMD’s numbers are to be believed, Intel may be in for a slaughter for Q2 2017. AMD has reportedly readied plenty of stock so there will hopefully be no supply issues.
Of course, no processor would function without a corresponding motherboard as well. Due to the insane popularity of Ryzen, the various X370 AM4 motherboards are also shooting to the top of the lists. It will be interesting to see how many of these pre-orders will come to fruition and what if anything Intel will do to stem the tide.
