AMD Ryzen 7000 Release Delay Due to BIOS Issues?

Earlier this week information appeared online suggesting that AMD had apparently delayed the general consumer release of its Ryzen 7000 processors until September 27th. We should, of course, note that this was just a rumour with the only thing currently confirmed by AMD themselves so far being the August 29th launch date.

With Intel looking likely to launch their 13th-gen Raptor Lake processors on September 27th as well, however, this clearly led to more than a little speculation that AMD may have changed the dates merely as a bit of a cynical means of stealing some thunder. – Following a report via Videocardz, however, information has appeared online suggesting that while this theory might still be sort of correct, there might actually be a legitimate reason for the CPUs getting pushed back a little!

AMD Delays Ryzen 7000 Release to Resolve BIOS Problem?

According to the source, AMD has primarily decided to delay the release date of its Ryzen 7000 processors (originally scheduled for September 15th) due to their being an unresolved issue within the BIOS. – Given that it has only basically been delayed for just under 2 weeks, however, this is almost certainly a pretty minor problem and one that may simply boil down to optimisation.

Again though, I still remain a cynic that AMD may have seen an opportunity here too. Changing the release date to September 27th does offer them a lot of opportunities to actually be getting their new processors into consumers’ hands while Intel is only merely revealing theirs. – All going well though, AMD Ryzen 7000 will be confirmed in less than 2 weeks, and officially released in 6!
