AMD Ryzen 9 7900X Review

7-Zip

7-Zip is a free and open-source file archiver, a utility used to place groups of files within compressed containers known as “archives”. It is developed by Igor Pavlov and was first released in 1999. 7-Zip has its own archive format called 7z, but can read and write several others.

Available now on 7-Zip.

Moving over to compression and looking at the 7-Zip benchmark where again, we see the 7900X pushing to the top of our chart, followed closely behind by the 5950X and seeing the 12900K and 5900X both coming in with the same result. In terms of decompression, things change up slightly with some bigger variances. Firstly, we see the 5950X pushing ahead of the 7900X, though not by much, and other older AMD cpus ahead of the Alder Lake based 12900K.
