AMD’s upcoming Ryzen 9 9950X, part of the Ryzen 9000 series, has been listed at a surprisingly lower price than its predecessor, the Ryzen 9 7950X3D, at launch in Canada. This new flagship CPU, based on the Zen 5 architecture, promises significant performance improvements.
Ryzen 9 9950X Listed for $600 US
The Ryzen 9 9950X has been spotted online at Canada Computers (thanks Wccftech) for CAD 839.00, translating to approximately $610 US. This is notably lower than the initial CAD 939.00 MSRP of the Ryzen 9 7950X. Interestingly, the 7950X is currently available for around $500 US, making the new 9950X’s price quite competitive.
The Ryzen 9 9950X, along with other models in the Ryzen 9000 series, will be available from July 31st.
Performance
AMD announced the Ryzen 9000 series at Computex 2024, highlighting a 16% IPC uplift compared to previous models. The lineup includes the Ryzen 9 9950X, Ryzen 9 9900X, Ryzen 7 9700X, and Ryzen 5 9600X, maintaining the same core counts but with enhanced performance.
Retailers are already preparing for the launch, with some indicating that pre-orders will begin on July 31st
While the Ryzen 9000 series promises impressive performance, AMD has also stated that current 3D V-Cache chips will remain the best for gaming. However, the new Ryzen 9000X3D CPUs, expected later this year, may push the performance boundaries even further.
