The latest Bretonnia update patch for Total War: Warhammer released a few days ago apparently contains Ryzen CPU optimizations that really help boosting the framerate over the previous version, even in 1920 x 1080 resolution gameplay. At the last AMD Community Update, it was Oxide Games’ Ashes of Singularity that received an official Ryzen patch boosting performance, this time it is Total War: Warhammer’s turn and hopefully more will be coming soon as the the Ryzen 5 CPUs are about to hit retail stores.
AMD’s Ryzen CPU has drawn some flack from the gaming community and some reviewers during its initial launch who were not happy that its gaming performance is not up to par with Intel’s especially at 1920 x 1080 resolutions or lower, despite performing very well on other CPU benchmarks. AMD has released a statement that optimizations are incoming and they are actually working with over 200 studios in order to optimize their games with Ryzen properly.
Creative Assembly claims a 10.5 percent increase with the “High” preset and up to 7 percent with the more GPU-bound “UItra” graphics preset. This test was conducted with an AMD Ryzen 7 1800X, 8GB of 2933MHz DDR4 RAM and a GeForce GTX 1080 with 378.92 drivers. Other independent media outlets such as hardware.fr have verified the claim, having benchmarked and repeatedly getting a 10% increase across the board with the program.
