AMD Ryzen R5 1500X Quad-Core AM4 Processor Review

CPU Benchmarks

Ashes of the Singularity

At the Crazy pre-set Ryzen 1500X struggled quite a bit, although overclocking did provide a much needed 3fps boost.

Cinebench R15

Cinebench scores are actually pretty impressive, beating out the heavily overclocked Intel 7600K, a processor that costs over £200, and keeping close to the 6700K, which is almost £300!

Handbrake

Cutting down to just 4-cores really took the wind out of the R5, but it’s safe to say that if you’re planning on doing lots of video rendering, then a budget focused 4-core CPU isn’t the best solution anyway.

WPrime

WPrime scores are about where we expected, not blazing fast, but certainly competitive given the price of the processor.

  1. Boy, did Intel carefully select those ‘benchmarks’ for you. I only hope the size of the cheque was worth it!
