Now this is what we like to see, the 1500X is keeping up with the stock 1700X here, no doubt helped along by the faster memory, but still a great result. Overclocking brings some nice gains too, putting it alongside the i7 4770K and 5820K processors.

Rise of the Tomb Raider

The 1500X managed to stay well over 100FPS in both stock and overclocked tests, and while it’s still quite low on the chart, there’s very little difference between any of the CPUs tested here, and the 1500X is more than suitable for high frame rate gaming at 1080P for Rise of the Tomb Raider, especially given its keeping up with processors that cost quite a bit more.

Shadow of Mordor

Again, there’s not a huge difference overall on this chart, bu tthe 1500X still manages to pull ahead of the i7-7700K. The performance did actually drop by 0.3FPS when overclocked, which is within an error of margin to say it had no impact on performance. We retested this three times and got pretty much the same result; it should be higher when overclocked, but it’s not, what can ya do!
