One thing I truly love about the Ryzen architecture is just how easy it is to overclock. We saw great overclocking gains with the R7 series and the R5 manages to deliver similar results. We hit 4.0 GHz with minimal effort and only a small increase in the voltage to 1.39v. With fewer cores than the R7, the chip is a lot cooler, so it’s easy to push to get some free performance. 4Ghz is pretty modest, but for an affordable chip and an affordable motherboard, we’re very happy with the results.
