AMD Ryzen R5 1600X Benchmarks Appear

We have seen a lot of Ryzen news lately, but they’ve been mostly focused on the biggest versions of the upcoming processor generation, the 1700 and the 1800 versions. Now we get a first peek at some Ryzen R5 benchmarks and they look quite promising.

The Ryzen R5 1600X is AMDs upcoming 6 core 12 thread processor and it is probably the one most people will opt for. It’s more budget oriented than the larger ones and still delivers a great performance. How great you ask? Well, we can have a first look at that now as both single and multicore benchmarks of this CPU have been “leaked”. The 1600X is the fastest of the 6 core versions of this upcoming CPU generation and it features a 3.4GHZ base clock with a boost of 3.7GHz. It also features the new auto-overclocking XFR feature that a lot of people are looking forward to.

It should be mentioned that these benchmarks come from CPU-Z and not the normal benchmark apps, but it still paints the first picture and wets the appetite for more. CPU-Z features a simple built-in benchmark feature and that’s the figures we get at this point.

The Ryzen R5 1600X scores extremely well in these synthetic benchmarks and lands above both Intel Broadwell-E 6-core chips and that’s impressive. While we don’t know all the details about the benchmark conditions, it’s safe to assume that it was running with a full boost to 3.7GHz and doing that, it beat out the i7-6850K which has a boost speed of 4GHz in the single-core tests.

In the multi-threaded tests, it scores equally impressive and lands right below the i7-6960X chip with a couple hundred points less and it once again outperforms all the Intel 6-core chips. Considering that the i7-5960X is a $1000 chip and the Ryzen R5 1600X will cost about a quarter of that makes it even more impressive.
