AMD Ryzen R7 8 core 16 thread European Prices Leaked

Over the past several weeks, we’ve seen some wide-ranging prices for various AMD Ryzen processors. Yesterday, a mysterious listing popped up with a $295 price tag for a Ryzen with an unknown core count. Today, we have a new report that purports to have the European prices for several of the 8 core 16 thread R7 CPUs. Keep in mind that these prices include the relevant EU taxes so US prices will be lower.

First up, we have the R7 1800X which is the top model 8 core chip. Coming in at €599.99, this puts it at about $640 which is dramatically cheaper than the comparable i7 6900K which costs about $1000. The clock speed comes in at 4 GHz with no word given if that is the boost or base clock. I suspect the retail MSRP will be $600 for the rest of the world.

Next, we have the R7 1700X which sits in the middle of the pack from previous lineup leaks. Coming in at €469.99, that puts it at about $500, sitting in between the hexacore i7 6800K and i7 6850K. Even accounting for VAT, the MSRP is probably in the $450-500 range. The clocks are only a tad lower than the 1800X at 3.8 GHz which again gives no indication if that is the base or boost clock.

Last of all, we have the R7 1700 non-X which is an interesting chip. At a mere €389.95, that would put it at about $415 or around the same as the i7 6800K. I suspect the MSRP will be set at about $375-400 which puts it just slightly higher than the i7 7700K. Clocked at 3.6 GHz, the chip even features a lower TDP than the rest at 65W.

Overall, these prices paint a very competitive pricing scheme for Ryzen. If the performance claims from AMD are to be believed, the x86 CPU landscape is for sure to see some dramatic pricing shifts. While no pricing was given for the quad core and hexacore units, the should likely be priced competitively against Intel, with the hexacores doing battle against the quad-core i7s and the quad cores facing off against the i5 and i3.
