With Ryzen getting so close to launch, it’s inevitable that pictures of the chips would eventually start surfacing. While we aren’t quite that lucky yet, we do have pictures of Ryzen samples running out in the wild. These chips are reportedly meant for reviewers as well as testing for motherboard OEMs with real retail samples.
From the pictures, we can see that Zen has no problems with LN2 cooling, just as expected. Being tested on the new Biostar Racing X370 GT7 motherboard, we now have our first glimpse of an X370 AM4 motherboard running Ryzen. We can also see the classic box AMD uses to send out samples as well. More samples are also expected to be distributed over the coming days with a major drop taking place on so-called “Ryzen Day”.
During Ryzen Day, AMD will not only be distributing more samples and motherboards, but they will also be showing off details about the Zen architecture and the launch lineup. Of course, any information revealed then would be covered by NDA but we might get some juicy leaks afterward anyways. As we saw with the Kaby Lake launch, NDAs aren’t quite as iron tight as they once were and there are always those willing to skirt the fine lines. I for one can’t wait to see AMD’s new Zen architecture in action and figure out how it will hopefully deliver on its performance claims.
