AMD officially made an introduction with three Ryzen Threadripper CPUs a few days ago. These options includes the flagship 16-core 1950X, 12-core 1920X and 8-core 1900X. There were rumours of an even more affordable Ryzen Threadripper 1900 but it was not announced.
There is a surprising development however since the official AMD X399 motherboard product pages started showing up. Looking through their official CPU support list, a fourth Ryzen Threadripper CPU that is yet to be announced appears to be coming soon. Although not a Threadripper 1900 like initially thought, it is actually a Threadripper 1920. It is the only Ryzen Threadripper CPU in the list which does not have the XFR feature and has lower TDP at 140W compared to the 180W of the Threadripper XFR-enabled models. The screenshot below shows that the Gigabyte X399 AORUS Gaming 7 motherboard already supports it out of the box.
The Threadripper 1920 is even listed ahead of the officially announced Threadripper 1900. In terms of core-count, it matches the Threadripper 1920X at 12 with 24 threads. However, given the lower TDP, it operates at a lower base frequency of 3.2GHz vs 3.5GHz and caps the Turbo speed at 3.8GHz. It retains the same 6MB L2 cache and 32MB L3 cache of the Threadripper 1920X as well.
In comparison, the 1900X only has 8-cores and 16-threads. However, it has a higher operating frequency of 3.8GHz up to 4.0GHz with a 4.2GHz XFR.
Although this CPU is not officially announced by AMD yet, the official listing on motherboard CPU compatibility listings suggest that it is already physically available for sampling. This means it could arrive sooner than the 1900X since the motherboard manufacturers were able to test it. In terms of pricing, the higher core/thread count most likely places it closer in pricing just below the Threadripper 1920X.
