Gaming Performance
Deus Ex: Mankind Divided
Now, this is where things get interesting. In our opinion, the Threadripper 1950X performs spectacularly in rendering and number crunching tasks. There’s clearly no doubt about that. However, when it comes to gaming, you’re barking up the wrong tree with this CPU. 1080P gaming performance is far from exciting and the clock speeds just aren’t high enough to see any big benefit. Overclocking helps a little, but without a significantly more powerful cooler, there’s not much to be gained there either. However, 4K performance in all games is competitive. Sure, it’s not groundbreaking, but strap on a high-end GPU and game at 4K on Threadripper, and it’ll work great, but Intel does still have the crown here, and there’s no hiding that.
