AMD’s Threadripper is officially being launched early August. Beliefs are that AMD will reveal the performance and final details of Threadripper, at SIGGRAPH in 10 days time. Of course, having a high-end processor is all well and good. However, if you don’t have a motherboard for it to go into, it is irrelevant.
Our friends over at VideoCardz managed to get an inside scoop of some of the board images for the world to see.
AMD is working hard alongside its partner’s to provide new X399 boards for the platform. Currently, there have only been for X399 motherboards to date. These are offerings from ASUS, ASRock and Gigabyte. However, MSI has indicated they are working on the platform too although no information is revealed yet. There is a high chance that we will see multiple M.2 slots and higher PCIe lane numbers due to the high support for more PCIe lanes of Threadripper.
AMD will be hosting a special episode of their monthly ‘Meet the Experts’ on the 25th July. Be sure to tune in at 9 AM (GMT-6) or 3 PM GMT Time. The show is expected to last 45 minutes and we are to believe that the X399 lineup will be revealed.
Currently, as mentioned above. There are only four known X399 motherboards. These are as follows:
Gigabyte X399 AORUS Gaming 7:
Asus X399 ROG Zenith Extreme:
ASROCK X399 Professional Gaming:
ASROCK X399 Taichi
Stay tuned for more information and details of the upcoming X399 motherboard line up.
