AMD Shows Off Impressive Vega 10 Performance – Launch Date Confirmed

AMD has been showing off its impressive new Vega 10 GPUs and, like with its Ryzen CPUs and Intel, the company is set to give its rival NVIDIA quite a scare. Reports from earlier this year already suggest the architecture is capable of outperforming NVIDIA’s GeForce GTX 1080 by up to 10% after the hardware was spotted running DOOM at 4K. During the recent Ryzen event, AMD allowed the press to demo a system running an 8-core AMD Ryzen 7 1700X and an unnamed Radeon 500 graphics card. The PC was able to run Star Wars Battlefront at 4K and a stable 60+ frames-per-second.

AMD has announced that its Vega 10 and Radeon 500 series of graphics cards are set for release in Q2 of 2017, prior to which Raja Koduri, Chief Architect of the Radeon Technologies Group, will discuss the new architecture as part of the Capsaicin and Cream press event at GDC 2017 tomorrow (28th February).

“Hosted by Radeon Technologies Group’s Senior Vice President and Chief Architect, Raja Koduri, the show will be a celebration of PC gaming, the technology steering its future, and the developers who work tirelessly to transform their imaginations into tomorrow’s blockbuster games,” an AMD press release reveals (via WCCFTech).

“The one-hour live event will offer PC gaming enthusiasts and developers around the world a preview of AMD’s latest graphics and processor technologies, reveal exciting new details surrounding Vega, and showcase the summer’s most anticipated PC and VR games from visionary game developers,” the press release adds.
