AMD’s upcoming Strix Point CPUs will debut under the new Ryzen AI 300 series, according to recent reports. This change is likely a strategic move to compete with Intel.
AMD has planned a last-minute rename for its Strix Point laptop processors. The top-tier model could be called the Ryzen AI 9 HX 370, while its non-HX version might be named Ryzen AI 9 365. This new naming convention uses a three-digit number preceded by Ryzen 5, Ryzen 7, and Ryzen 9 branding, with an added “AI” component.
A reliable source on Bilibili revealed that AMD’s upcoming CPUs will be renamed from Ryzen AI 9 HX 170 to Ryzen AI 9 HX 370. The non-HX version will be renamed to Ryzen AI 9 365. The “300” in the name indicates the third iteration of AMD’s NPU, which debuted with the Ryzen 7000 series. This new naming approach allows for future refreshes like Hawk Point to be launched as Ryzen AI 1xx and Ryzen AI 2xx, mirroring Intel’s strategy with its Raptor Lake refresh.
AMD’s decision to rename its Strix Point CPUs aligns with Intel’s similar approach. Intel’s next Raptor Lake refresh will be branded as the Core 200H series. AMD’s new naming scheme is designed to provide flexibility for future product updates and to position the Ryzen AI 300 series as a direct competitor to Intel’s offerings.
