AMD Takes Hilarious Shot At Nvidia With 12VHPWR Adaptor Jibe!

I daresay that it didn’t escape your attention that during the AMD Radeon 7900 launch event, Team Red made a small but very notable comment regarding what power adaptor their upcoming 7900 XT and 7900 XTX graphics cards would require. – Put simply, rather than moving to 12VHPWR as per Nvidia’s 4090 and 4080, AMD would be sticking to standard 6+2 VGA adaptors.

This a move which has undoubtedly gone hugely in their favour given all the reported controversies surrounding the 12VHPWR adaptor and GPU ports melting! – Following a Twitter post by AMD executive Sasa Marinkovic, however, it seems that Team Red is somewhat revelling in the fact that, for once, things getting too hot isn’t a problem being associated with them!

AMD Throws Heat at Nvidia!

Putting it across like it’s some kind of general public service announcement, AMD tells us to ‘stay safe’ this winter by showcasing an image of the standard VGA adaptor set to be utilised (more accurately, retained) on the 7900 XT and 7900 XTX. – A post which is clearly taking a huge shot at the ongoing controversy with Nvidia 12VHPWR adaptors regularly popping up melted on social media channels since, well… Ever since the 4090 was released last month!

Now, in this regard, Nvidia has now issued a formal statement on the matter categorically confirming that the issue is down to user error (click here for more info). Personally, though, I’m not yet buying this as a total explanation. – Any way you look at this though, it appears that AMD is loving this free advertising Nvidia is giving them!
