AMD Takes the Lead in the CPU Market in the USA with 80% Share, According to Amazon Data
AMD has become a dominant force in the CPU market. Recent data from Amazon USA indicates that AMD now controls about 80% of the CPU market, leaving Intel losing more ground. The Ryzen 7 9800X3D alone has outperformed multiple Intel processors, securing the top spot, with over 6,000 units sold just in March, according to partial data. The final numbers should bring the total closer to 7,000 units.
AMD’s Growing Popularity
Even the budget-friendly Ryzen 5 5500, priced under $100 compared to Intel’s more expensive options, is selling very well. It is a six-core processor, which indicates that users are valuing choices in PC builds. Over 3,000 units of the Ryzen 5 5500 were sold in March, followed closely by the Ryzen 7 7800X3D, which had similar sales figures.
Intel’s Struggles
Overall, the top spots on Amazon’s CPU rankings are dominated by AMD, with only two Intel CPUs, the Intel Core i5 12400F and Intel Core i7 12700K, making it to the top 10. These Intel chips each sold over 1,000 units and are priced above $200. Other Ryzen CPUs in the 9000 series are performing well, but haven’t yet reached the levels of AMD’s Ryzen 5000 and Ryzen 7000 series in certain regions.
The shift in sales data is quite telling. AMD, which once played catch-up to Intel in the CPU market, has now become the top choice for many, with users increasingly viewing AMD as a more reliable option, especially following some recent issues with Intel’s products.
