Just a while back, at their own event, AMD revealed some new details for upcoming processors. One of the big highlights was the reveal of the new Zen 2 architecture. While details a quite slim, the new architecture will arrive in 2019. Beyond those few details, and more on the enterprise, no more information has really come out officially. However, a company affiliate in South Korea is revealing new details for the upcoming Zen 2 CPUs.
The information is coming from a new marketing campaign in South Korea. The AMD affiliate ad agency in the country just started up a new marketing campaign. In it, they ask fans to guess the Cinebench scores for two of the upcoming chips. They are the new Ryzen 3700X, likely the flagship, and the mid-range Ryzen 3600X. Both of these 3000 series chips will likely launch in sometime in 2019.
As expected, AMD appears to be keeping their same naming convention. When Ryzen first launched, the company also revamping their naming scheme. The basic structure will likely stay the same as long as we are on the Zen and AM4 platform. The contest is set to end this year on December 14th. Those who submit a correct answer for the chips will get the respective CPU as a reward once they launch.
Unfortunately, there is little else to glean more information from the campaign. The naming convention already tells us what the new chips will be named so it is not new information. However, it is a nice confirmation to have. With the new Zen 2 revamp and massive IPC boost, it is quite a safe marketing strategy. It is unlikely anyone will get it right at this point. Throw in rumours for a core count increase and it is basically impossible. It would be amazing though if someone were able to get it right.
