AMD Threadripper Will Launch August 10th

After nearly a decade long wait, AMD is truly returning to the enthusiast market with Threadripper. Earlier this year, AMD launched their new Ryzen processors. Based on the new Zen architecture, AMD has CPUs that are once again within striking distance of Intel. Beyond the consumer Ryzen lineup, AMD is preparing their HEDT response to Skylake-X. Threadripper is AMD’s answer to the future of enthusiast computing. For those who are waiting, the wait ends on August 10th.

Threadripper Launch Delayed Due to Supply Problems

AMD first teased Threadripper in their events in the first half of the year. Since then, the company has remained silent on potential launch dates. July 27th is the date many considered as the potential launch. This date was one many of the unofficial pre-orders showed as the ship date. As we finding out now, it looks like AMD was not able to meet their target. Reports suggest that this is due to low supply for Threadripper.

The leak comes courtesy of Hermitage Akihabara. That site has been the source of many validated leaks in the past, with good connections to industry. Given that AMD has promised a summer 2017 launch, August 10th is about right. It also gives AMD a total of 2 more weeks to solve their supply problems. All that’s left for us to do now is wait the 2 weeks till it finally arrives. The launch will reportedly take place at 6 AM PDT. Perhaps this means AMD will do their launch event a few days before hand.
