After the gradual release of the Llano APU, AMD is now planning on phasing out some of the older-generations CPU’s and it has said it going to start doing this in the second half of 2011.
AMD plans to phase out about 30 AM3-based Phenom II and Athlon II series CPU’s starting in the third quarter of 2011. By the end of the fourth quarter they will have phased out all shipments of the Phenom II processors and by early in 2012 they expect to have phased out the Athlon II CPU’s.
AMD will stop taking orders for CPU’s such as Phenom II X6 1100T/1090T and Phenom II X4 980/975 at the end of the Q4 while it will stop taking orders of the 970/965 and Phenom II X2 560/565 by the end of Q3.
However, the more recently released lower TDP processors such as the X4 905/10e and X2 620e are set to remain shipping until the fourth quarter.
Hopefully AMD will consider lowering their prices of these Processors before they stop shipping them especially as they are now last-generation processors.
