AMD is due to unveil Trinity some time in 2012 and it will be based off the upgraded 40nm GPU process and the 32nm CPU process. The APUs will also come to market in the FM2 platform which is incompatible with the FM1 platform. The 32nm CPU cores are the next generation of Bulldozers known as Piledriver. The A10-5800K that has been tested is a part aimed at the more value minded enthusiast. It features four cores with unlocked multipliers that are 3.8GHz stock and 4.2GHz turbo. The graphics part featured is the HD 7660D.
The site INPAI managed to get their hands on an A10-5800K test sample and put it through some tests on SuperPi and 3D Mark 06. The results were as follows:
SuperPi
A10-5800K (@3.8GHz stock) 23.775 seconds
A8-3850 (@2.9GHz stock) 26.039 seconds
If we take away the effect of the 31% increase in stock frequency then the fact the A10-5800K is 8.7% faster doesn’t actually look at all impressive.
3D Mark 06
A10-5800K (@3.8GHz stock) 9396 points
A8-3850 (@2.9GHz stock) 6223 points
The A10-5800K brings about 50% faster graphical performance in the 3D Mark 06 test, we can’t see what break down of this increase is due to the CPU or GPU but we assume most, if not all, of it is due to the improved graphics.
