AMD will flush down FM1 as EOL by Q1-Q2 2013

Now that Trinity is based on the FM2 socket, AMD will declare FM1 as EOL once their remaining processors which use FM1 sockets are sold out. From Q1 2013, AMD won’t offer any Llano chips through their channel- and that will complete the transition to Trinity FM2.

AMD’s Socket FM1 came out for Fusion processors which was released in July 2011. FM2 kicked off with Athlon X4, A4, A6, A8, AND A10 Series.

AMD intends to stick with this plan until Richmond arrives in 2013. Will this help AMD to make a long term recovery? That remains to be seen in Q1- Q2 2013.
