AMD Zen SiSoftware Benchmarks Spotted

In a few months time, AMD will finally be releasing their new Zen CPUs. Based off of a whole new architecture, the new design has been touted to offer over 40% IPC over their current chips. Some reports have suggested that this means AMD will come in somewhere around Haswell/Broadwell levels of IPC. Now we have a new set of SiSoftware benchmarks which may provide some concrete data.

Earlier in the year, we got some Blender benchmarks which showed Zen being on par with Broadwell. From the new SiSfotware benchmark listing, it appears that Zen is able to keep up with Haswell on an overall basis. This is particularly true of the Processor Multi-Media and Processor Financial Analysis tests. Once you account for clock speeds and core count, Zen is pretty much on par with Haswell. I suspect we will see cases where AMD will be able to match Broadwell as well.

While some were hoping for even greater gains from Zen, these numbers if true are already really impressive. With margin of error levels of IPC compared to the latest Intel CPUs, AMD will be able to compete all for but the most performance-critical applications. Hopefully, we will be able to see more details released about the new lineup before it launches in early 2017.
