AMD has now made a pre-certified version of the upcoming Catalyst driver available; version 12.2.
Coming with this driver is the support for all the cards since the HD 2000 series, a couple of updates enhancements and the Super Sampling Anti-Aliasing (SSAA) support for the latest HD 7900 and HD 7700 series graphics cards.
Highlighted in the first row is the Windows 7 and Windows Vista support for the AMD Radeon HD 7900 series and AMD Radeon HD 7700 series for both 64-bit and 32-bit while Windows XP will see the support being available in version 12.4.
The new driver also brings Super Sampling Anti-Aliasing for DirectX 10 and DirectX 11 applications, once again for the HD 7900 and HD 7700 series. This will now give the possibility to enable both SSAA and Adaptive Anti-Aliasing through the AMD Catalyst Control Center.
A couple of AMD Eyefinity 2.1 enhancements are included as well including custom resolutions, Dynamic Configuration Changes, HydraVision enhancements that allow for Windows Task-bar to be moved and resized based on preference as well as some Profile Manager improvements.
The Microsoft certified 12.2 driver should be officially launched sometime around the end of the month or very early in March. In case you just can’t wait for it, you can already find the pre-certified version here.
