AMD’s Dual Socket 64-Core Behemoth Benchmarks Leaked

AMD is looking forward to having a more competitive line-up in the CPU market starting next year and there’s a great deal of expectation surrounding the Zen architecture. While most people want to know the performance of enthusiast desktop chips, it’s always interesting to look at the server platform. The Naples SoC is an absolute beast designed for the most extreme workloads. This particular SoC has two 32-core processors which equate to an unbelievable 128-threads. Recently, new benchmarks were revealed over at the NewCitaviaBlog which provide an insight into this mammoth processor’s performance. The data was recorded in the widely used SiSoft Sandra benchmark suite.

As you can see, the processor multi-media score is 643.37 Mpix/s which almost defies belief. Additionally, the memory bandwidth was 0.31Gb/s while the processor cryptography result hit an impressive 0.17GB/s.

Here we can see more details about what the data means in simple terms. The processor cryptography score is higher than 32.35% of results but well behind in the ranking order.

The financial analysis performance is stellar and higher than 93.36% of previously tested benchmark runs on competing hardware. The 111th position is worthy of praise.

Finally, the multi-media ranking is marvellous and higher than 94.71% of results, which leads to a 240th position.

Even though it’s still early days, the Naples SoC is shaping up quite nicely and offers exceptional theoretical numbers in CPU-intensive tasks. I’m looking forward to seeing how the chip develops and refinements AMD makes before the official release.
