AMD’s New Ryzen Stock Coolers Pictured

After revamping their stock CPU coolers last year, it looks like AMD is at it again. For Ryzen, the company has prepared a whole new lineup of coolers to match the improved TDP of their Zen architecture and 14nm process. Luckily for us, renders for the stock heatsinks have leaked out for us to see. AMD has 3 coolers which are the 65W, 95W and the Wraith replacement model.

In a surprising twist, AMD has opted to abandon the square shape design that has served well for so long and opted for a round shape with the 65W and 95W models. As with recent AMD designs, they have taken up the fan shroud we first saw with the new Wraith cooler. While higher end users might not use these stock heatsinks, it’s a nice upgrade for the many mainstream customers who just want something that works well and looks nice out of the box. The 95W gets its extra TDP headroom simply by increasing the height of the fin array.

For the high-performance cooler, AMD has largely kept the Wraith like design. Sticking to the square design to give more surface area, we see that AMD has gone with copper heatpipes as well to whisk the heat away from the CPU better. We also have the nice fan shroud we first saw on the Wraith as well. It’s unknown at this point if AMD has decided to keep the LED backlit logo with this design. Given that the Wraith had no issue with the 125W TDP of the Bulldozer family, this new heatsink could actually allow some nice overclocking headroom for Ryzen.
