Our heads are beginning to turn towards the next GPU generation as following the RX 7600 XT & RTX SUPER series cards, we’re about at the end of this generation. Of course that means the rumour mill is running strong with new information about AMD’s RDNA 4 which suggests they’ll be dropping their enthusiast class cards with their top end offering featuring RX 7900 XTX performance for half the price.
A rumour has been shared by Moore’s Law is Dead (Via TPU) which suggests AMD’s top card in the upcoming RDNA 4 GPU line-up will be at the mid-range with 7900 XTX performance at a $400-600 price point with no cards in the “enthusiast class” price range. This is similar to the RX 5000 series which only saw up to a 5700 XT. This is said to be achieved by utilising a smaller, simpler silicon which costs a lot less meaning that cost reduction can be passed onto the consumer.
RDNA 4 is predicted to launch in Q3 2024 and could see some positive discussion in the budget and mid-range markets. Alternatively, NVIDIA’s Blackwell RTX 5000 series is also expected to launch near the end of the year but with the RTX 5090 that MLID expects to see a large price bump over the 4090, possibly even $2000.
It will be nice to see some cheaper GPUs at in the market as many people are being priced out of even the mid-range, but then again many people are being priced out of everything.
