With Android Lollipop 5.0 being such a major update, including its new Material Design, change from JIT to ART compiler, and adding support for 64-bit procressors, we have a chance now to look at its progress. Specifically it’s stability, which now preforms better than older versions of Android.
Lollipops crash rate comes in at a low 2.0%, as reported by Crittercism. By comparison, iOS 8 has a crash rate of 2.2%. Now I know what you’re all thinking, and yes it is a very marginal difference, but in the ultra competitive world of Android vs Apple, anything good is bragging rights. Looking back at older versions of each OS, we can see that Android is trending up with KitKat’s crash rate being 2.6%, and even if a bit, iOS is trending down with iOS 7’s crash rate being 1.9%.
