Antec Advance TrueQuiet Pro 120mm Fan Review

Testing fans is something that is fairly new to us, and is a slightly different direction to the norm, compared to what we’d usually take. We try to focus on the enthuasiast market and readership, but looking at the balance of a product like this, their simply wouldn’t be an enthusiast market without quiet and top performing fans and that is exactly what this fan falls under.

So lets talk about the design to start with, incorporating a very stock looking design that gives an quality feel with none of the unneeded fancy extras. It’s a very simple design but seems to work from every angle including the turbine design of the fan blades, right down to the rubber mounted corners which assist in keeping vibration to a minimum. The addition of rubber grommets for mounting the fan just gives that little something extra and shows to us that the TrueQuiet Pro 120 really does live up to its name by not cutting corners and trying to keep noise and vibration to the very lowest levels.

Performance wise, the fan does exactly what it says on the tin and offers a good amount of cooling power at both 600 and 1200RPM and with a simple flick of a switch, it’s easy for the user to decide what speed they prefer, but even at the higher speed, you won’t find the noise levels unbareable, so don’t worry if you had doubts. As you can see from our graph, the noise levels given by the fan were extremely low, but we must stress that facts and figures that come direct from manufacturers are done under extremely rigourous testing procedures and we have simply performed our own method, hence that differences may be present. That aside, the results simply were fantastic, and even during testing, from my own personal experience, the noise levels were extremely low in terms of pitch and overall output to my ears.

The joys of a product like this, is that it’s not positioned at a particular segment or area as yes it may be a chassis fan, but this can appeal to the type of user who requires silence, or the type of user who needs the best airflow, or simply someone who loves Antec products and trusts them as being one of the best brands on the market. A product like this can also be retro-fitted to work with your CPU cooler and that opens up a whole different pathway of possibilities and that’s why this product was quite interesting for us.

Coming in with an RRP of £19.99, no concrete pricing from retailers is available as of yet, but based off the RRP, things look extremely promising and we’re very keen to see how this fan does in the retail channels as we hold extremely high hopes for it.

It definitely shows that Antec have used the success from the original TrueQuiet range of fans, and developed things further to offer a quieter, more powerful solution without skimping on the quality and we really can see this fan being branded as an extreme performer.
