How Much Does it Cost?

The Antec AX90 Mid-Tower ATx Tempered Glass PC Gaming Case is available now from Scan for just £79.99. Honestly, I’m really surprised this case is not more expensive. Given the overall features, build quality, and the inclusion of four ARGB fans, I think the AX90 is really great value for money.

Overview

There’s no shortage of great mid-tower PC cases these days. Actually, for around the same price, there are almost countless options from the big-name brands alone, and for the most part, they’re all great-looking and competent cases. So, which one do you really pick? Well, I think it comes down to the front panel and the cooling, and little else right now.

The Antec AX90 does a lot of things right, but so much so, that they’re almost expected or predictable for a modern PC gaming case. It has room for a large graphics card, so that’s a big tick right there. It’ll handle a big air cooler or larger radiators, so again another tick. There’s a built-in PSU shroud, good cable routing and a tempered glass window, tick, tick, tick. So really, the devil is in the details here.

The front panel is really unique looking, which I love, even with the RGB off it stands out and looks cool. However, it also offers up a lot of airflow and good dust filtering, with three great quality fans behind it to provide ample cooling to your system. Antec gets bonus points for having a rear fan, and for it being ARGB too, something many rivals seem to cheap out on.

The ARGB lighting effects are competitive, but you get a built-in hub that can be controlled by your motherboard or by the front I/O control button, meaning you can get RGB effects without having to deal with desktop software, which more often than not, sucks.

The overall design and build quality are very good too. Antec is well known for making durable cases and that still holds true with the AX90. Thick steel, everything is nicely put together and the side panel and tempered glass are made to a high standard. It’s all the little details, but it adds up to a premium-looking and feeling PC case.

Some of the default cable runs could be improved, and some cable lengths make it hard to route them completely out of sight, but really, Antec has crammed a lot of stuff into a fairly compact mid-tower, so it’s not too bad really.

Should I Buy One?

Stunning aesthetics, good build quality, decent hardware and cooling support, and plenty of cable routing space make for an easy build. With four pre-installed fans, dust filters where they’re needed, and room for future expansions, the AX90 really ticks all the right boxes for a modern ARGB-lit gaming PC build. It’s not subtle by any measure, but it’s a great case for those who want their build to really stand out, and any minor issues are smoothed out by the fact it’s very competitively priced.
